Project 2- Song Kim

Long Chopsticks
A player had to place objects on the plate on top of the head only using chopsticks. One must hold, not the middle, but near the end of the chopsticks. Must start over if an object has been dropped. Whoever transfers all the objects to the plate fastest wins.

Board!
Each player picks a card from the stack and advances according to its colour. If a shape card has been chosen, and if it is ahead of the player, move forward, and if it is behind, move backward to the space with the shape.

Battle Rocks

Each player gets health point of 100. An attacking player will throw the set of attacking rocks, and defending player throws defending rocks. Each player catches one rock and compare the numbers hidden inside the rocks. If attacking point is higher, defending player will lose the difference from health point. If defending point is higher, then nothing happens. Each player will take turn of attack and defense

Dart Face
Each slice consists of different eyes, nose, and mouth. A player shoots three darts to form a face. First dart is for eyes, second is for nose, and third is for mouth.

Rat Droppings
1. Place large and small number cards randomly throughout the track.
2. Each player gets a bingo card.
3. Place the rat at starting point of the track.
4. Let the rat slide.
5. Whatever number the rat drops, cross off from the bingo card.
6. Whoever crosses off 5 lines wins the game.

Sinking Bomb
Direction:
1. Pour low % alcohol beverage (eg. beer) into a big glass.
2. Fill low alcohol beverage up to certain point. Do not overfill.
3. Gently place a small glass (eg. shot glass) so that it floats on low alcohol beverage.
4. Each person takes a turn and pour high % alcohol beverage (eg. vodka) directly into the small glass. Amount does not matter.
5. Whoever sinks the small glass has to drink the mixed beverage.

Hey Song Kim,

I know we are not partners but I don’t have one and I really liked your drawing and ideas!
I will comment in the order you placed them.

1 – Long Chopsticks: I love practicing my chopstick skills thus I think it’s a great idea for
a game, it requires physical abilities as well as practice, concentration and some luck. Nevertheless I wonder if it is appropriate for our age group, may be if there were more action going on, or may be a group work like if on member were wearing the hat and the other will to pick them up with a blind fall??

2 – I looove board games! You’ll see that if you’ll look at my ideas. It’s a good base but I think it needs more interest rather then just the movement, if I understood right. A nice option is to add meaning to the colors/shapes (to achieve something).

3 - Battle Rocks seem like a nice simple game, I could see myself spending hours doing that instead of studying….

4 – Dart face: Good game, combine physical fun and sense of achievement, as well as creating something that is surprising and amusing – the new face. The dart idea is good because it is for all ages, I am not sure about the face, and will people in our age actually get exited from discovering the new face? I am not sure, but of course I may be wrong.

5 – Rat Droppings: I like the name, I thought it refers to rat shit… but I did not understand the game, if you could clarify. I know it’s a kind of bingo, but what’s the different with size, and how do they fall?

6 – Sinking Bomb: Love the game, the illustration is very clear and nice. I don’t know if it works but I sure do want to try! Are you bringing Vodka to class??? :)

Hi Song:

Did everyone decide to include at least one drinking game?

Battle Rocks seems to mimic Rock Paper Scissors in an elaborate way. Maybe reducing it to RPS would be even more clear, and leave the length of play open ended. Could you create a visceral RPS experience, where for example, the scissors actually cut the paper?

A chopsticks training game would create an interesting dialogue between native and non-native users. Could you turn this into a cross-cultural challenge? That would definitely be topical at OCAD.

Hey Song i couldnt find my partner anywhere on this blog so im going to comment on yours.

I thought long chopsticks was really cool because ive never heard of a game that utilizes chopsticks. It pretty innovative and creative, especially since you place a plate on your head. The only problem i can see is that it might not appeal to too large of a demographic because not everyone knows how to use chopsticks (although they should!) Seems a little bit dangerous too for youngsters (plates can fall and chopsticks can poke people's eyes out)

Board- The concept is good and simplicity is good too but it seems to be too simple and i can gurantee one will get bored after one round.

Battle Rocks- I LOVE THIS IDEA! It seems like something that is fast paced and spontaneous. I like how it is a game of chance and those ones are the best and I LOVE BATTLES! It reminds me of something called Bakugan where its magnetic battle brawlers. Good idea

Dart Face- I think its a really creative take on darts. I just think that maybe you can elaborate on it a little bit more. Maybe like a dart body or something where you would have to form the whole body instead of just the face to keep the game going for longer.

Rat Droppings- I strangley like this game because it is out of the ordinary. Never would i expect to play a game called rat droppings. Its also a game of chance which is good. Its an innovative take on bingo, maybe a little tooo much like bingo :)

Sinking Bomb- Drinking games are sweet so i love it. Ill try it out tonight. Good job Song
